Word reaching our spies confirms that one of the structures inside the Kasubi Royal tombs in Kampala has set alarm bells ringing as fire has engulfed it. In a video that has been circulating, the Uganda Police Fire Brigade is seen hard at work pitting out fire from one of the huts in the Kasubi tombs area. SP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson confirmed the occurrence but was quick to calm Buganda Kingdom loyalists by adding that the fire has been contained and put out, “The fire broke out at around 1300 hours in one of the structures that were metres away from the main tomb. Police were informed and four fire tenders were dispatched to professionally handle the incident,” Onyango said. On the cause of the fire, Onyango said that investigations are still ongoing. “The extent of the damage is yet to be computed. We appeal to members of the public to be calm as we investigate the incident,” Onyango further said. It should be remembered that this is the second time the tombs have caught fire. The site is a very important place for Baganda since its where Buganda Royal Kings were buried.
